One of the communication services
on mobile devices is a wireless service called Bluetooth. According to
Wikipedia, Bluetooth is an industry specification for wireless area networks
(personal area network or PAN). Bluetooth connects and can be used to exchange
information between devices.
Bluetooth operates at a 24 GHz
frequency by using a frequency hopping transceiver that can provide data and
audio communication services in real time between Bluetooth hosts with a
limited distance. The weakness of this technology is its short range and low
transferability.
Basically the specifications of
this Bluetooth device were developed and distributed by a group called special
inters group (SIG). currently Bluetooth technology is up to version 5.0. what
are the advantages of Bluetooth 5.0 compared to the previous version, following
the explanation.
In May 1998, several promoter
companies consisting of Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Nokia and Toshiba were affiliated
and formed a group with the name GIS, which then started making a specification
named Bluetooth. The Bluetooth 1.0
specification document as the first generation was launched in July 1999. Then,
in December of the same year, it began again making Bluetooth 2.0 specification documents with the addition of 4 new
promoters are 3 Com, Lucent, technology, Microsoft and Motorola.
Furthermore, Bluetooth 3.0 appears with a new generation from the previous
version, has 8x speed that needs low power. The new Bluetooth 3.0 with specification an average speed of 22 Mbps
and speeds reaching 24 Mbps, and can use additional antennas.
Bluetooth 4.0 Technology In early 2010, to meet the need for
low-energy wireless technology, to target applications such as fitness, health
industry, household entertainment and the security of shopping centers. In
other words, Bluetooth 4.0 technology is a form of bluetoot evolution that
prioritizes the use of energy-efficient wireless technology. Bluetooth 4.0 has
several advantages, among others: smaller power consumption which saves battery
or electricity. The usage time is longer to year using only small capacity
batteries, low production costs, longer distances of more than 100 m, better
transfer speeds of 1 Mbps and a more controlled security system compared to the
previous generation of Bluetooth security systems.
After version 4.0, Bluetooth 5.0 comes as the latest
version of the standard Bluetooth wireless communication. This system is widely
used on wireless headphones, wireless keyboards, wireless mice and controllers
for game consoles. Bluetooth is also used for communication between smarthome
devices and internet of Things (IoT) devices
Although Bluetooth 5.0 is the
latest version with many improvements, the advantages can only be enjoyed when
connected with the same version. This means that if it is connected with a
lower version of the device the connection enjoyed is the lowest version. In
plain view, before version 5.0 the difference between the Bluetooth version
with one another was not so pronounced, because there were so many differences
in pairing time and low battery consumption. Here are the advantages of
Bluetooth 5.0 with 3 main features.
The first feature
is pairing time 2x faster. The generality when pairing for the first time is
done takes a pause. In addition, connected devices must be routed frequently.
Using Bluetooth 5.0 connection will be 2x faster even though the device is
first paired. The latest Bluetooth version is also able to reduce pause. As a
comparison, the previous version for pairing usually uses a break time of 5 10
seconds before connecting.
The second feature
is 4 times better mileage. In older versions are 4.0. 4.1, 4.2. If you use Bluetooth to listen
to music from a cellphone with a headphone jack, then walk out of the room or
walk a little distance, the connection will be lost. That is, the distance
between devices is relatively closer to a maximum of 50 m without any space
limits or a maximum of 10 m if used over a boundary or wall. In version 5.0,
the wider range of 4x is a maximum of about 200 m without space limits and a
maximum of 40 m if it crosses the wall boundary.
The third feature
of Bluetooth 5.0 which is not owned by the previous version is able to connect
more than one device. So, if you turn on the device simultaneously and the
device is paired before then the Bluetooth device will be connected together.
